Traffic jams suck. I rarely find myself in one since I skip upstream to NW indy in the am. Today was different. Aside from the annoying drivers who nearly cause a wreck trying to get around one and crying after coming upon the fate of a stranger in a red SUV, I enjoyed creeping along the highway for an extra 30ish minutes. Thank you, Zombies. In early September my iPod was stollen. I guess my odds of being robbed increase when I own the most commonly stollen item in the US. Anywho, I bought a new one on our honeymoon. Not only is it new it is a new generation, which means even more space that I cannot fill. I thought about downloading a movie or episodes of Glee. That costs money. Then, I saw something worth looking into while sifting through the iTunes store. iTunes offers free podcasts from Universities. The iTunes "app" is called "iTunesU". The first podcast that popped up read, "Zombies: An intro to Zombie Studies". Initially I thought it was stupid. Then, I read the description and saw the "free" button. Hey, it'll take up space on my iPod. After listening to "Poker Face" and other garbage I remembered that I'd transferred the course on Zombies to my new iPod. So, I listened to the intro podcast. I suppose it's even more timely that Chrstopher I watched "28 Days Later" this past weekend. Scared the shit out of me. There were references made to this movie, which is very different than the original Zombie films, and I was glad to be able to revisit the movie with words from a Zombie expert. One thing that stuck out to me was how perfect Zombies are for film as opposed to other media. They do, they don't think. Download it. It's free, it takes up space on your iPod and it gets you through traffic jams. Check out the hundreds of other podcasts while you're there. I'll be listening to the second podcast on my way home today. The subject will be the subtext in Zombie films. Weee, Zombies! |
